| About
the Westerly Track & Athletic Club The
Westerly Track & Athletic Club (WTAC)
was established in 1972 and is a non-profit organization that supports the recreational
and competitive athlete. We are a member of the Rhode Island USA Track & Field
(USATF Number 99), which is the governing board of track & field, racewalking
and distance running. WTAC
meets on the second Thursday of each month
at 6:00pm in the conference room, located upstairs in the Brown Building at 16
High Street, Westerly. These meetings are open to all members. WTAC
annual dues are $5.00 per year for an individual
and $8.00 per year for a family. For information regarding membership, you may
go to our membership page and print out a
form to mail to the WTAC or can contact us by email. Members
are encouraged to participate in WTAC sponsored races - the "Clamdigger"
5 Mile Run (April), Tom McCoy Summer Fun Run Series, Nick Bottone Track Mile (summer),
Charlie Stavros 5K Beach Run (September) and Lil' Rhody Runaround 7.9 Mile Trail
Run (November). WTAC
awards scholarships annually, usually, to
one male and one female from a local high school (Stonington High School, Westerly
High School or Chariho High School). The scholarships are funded by club memberships,
club-sponsored events and private donations. |
